Indigo Life Presents: Making Music
Discover, Create, Perform!
In this lively and hands-on class, students will explore a wide variety of sounds and musical styles through active listening, discussion, and playing instruments. The emphasis will be on percussion—including drums, shakers, maracas, cymbals, tambourines, and more—as students experiment with rhythm and beat. Together, we’ll build a foundation in how percussion drives music while encouraging creativity, collaboration, and self-expression. Students will also have opportunities to compose short pieces and share their own musical ideas with the group. No prior musical experience is needed—just curiosity and enthusiasm!
At the end of 10 weeks, students will:

Story Builders: Create a Group Story
In this fun and welcoming class, we’ll explore what makes a great story—and write one together as a group! Each week, we’ll focus on a different part of storytelling, using it to add a new section to our shared story.
By the final class, we’ll have created a complete group story with a beginning, middle, and end—possibly even with illustrations! You’ll get to help shape the plot, invent characters, decide on a setting, and more.
 What We’ll Do Each Week:

• What Makes a Story? Look at different stories and talk about the parts that make them work. Begin brainstorming our group story idea.
• Plot Work together to create the beginning of our story and decide what will happen next.
• Character Invent characters for our story—who they are, what they want, and what makes them interesting.
• Setting Choose where and when our story takes place using visuals, maps, and group discussion.
